Ditton Place: Safeguarding Heritage, Creating Value
One of our residential projects, Set in a 20-acre Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Ditton Place presented significant challenges due to its Grade II* Listed status. By adopting an ‘Enabling Development’ strategy, we secured approval for new dwellings and the conversion of the heritage asset into luxury apartments.
The Beacons
- 19,935 sq ft, Sussex
- A sensitive residential refurbishment of an Edwardian country manor house set in 18 acres of landscaped parkland bordering the Ashdown Forest.
- This single residence has been sub-divided into 10 well proportioned one-off homes with traditional craftsmanship and modern facilities. Original detail has been preserved or restored.
Cityview Apartments
- 22,900 sq ft, Greenwich
- New build contemporary 24 unit gated residential development on a steep site in Charlton, with views to the City and Millennium Dome.
- The layouts are suitable for city living, with internal arrangements maximising natural light and storage. The building shell is reinforced concrete with an insulated render system. Robust detailing and high quality finishes throughout.
Nottinghill
- 4575 sq ft, London
- The complete re-modelling of a stucco villa within a conservation area.
- At high level, an elliptical 'pod' inserted below the existing parapet, provides a new guest suite and roof terrace with no visual impact to neighbours. Its curved underside is expressed within the first floor ceiling. A stunning red 'ribbon' staircase creates a new heart to the house, linking all levels and leading at ground floor to an open plan cantilevered rear extension, which floats over a spacious new basement floor and two-tier garden.
The Barn
- 1,800 sq ft, Sussex
- This fifteenth century oak frame has been converted into a modern weekend home.
- The multifunction outer skin incorporates insulation, shutters and fly screens and closes like a jewellery box when unoccupied. The adoption of this external skin allows the frame to be fully expressed internally, and the relationship with landscape is maximised by the inversion of the living spaces.
Country House
- 6,500 sq ft, West Sussex
- This period country house was extensively refurbished following the insertion of a concrete framed contemporary swimming pool. The addition of an 'orangery' kitchen extension and glazed 'link' building provided internal access to the pool, which has a 'weir edge' and frameless glazed enclosure to maximise stunning views.
The Pool
- 2,990 sq ft, Sussex
- This semi-submerged diving and swimming pool, located on one of the highest points in West Sussex, is designed to maximise stunning views and fit into the surrounding landscape. Level changes, frameless glazing and a weir along its length provide uninterrupted views from the pool.
- A green roof construction forms an extensive terrace to the existing house above. Bespoke detailing achieves a minimalist look with glass, wood and stone.
The Oaks Bracknell
- 2,639 sq m of floorspace, Bracknell Town.
- The site is very sustainable due to its location, as such the scheme comprises 66 residential apartments, as a mix of One and Two bedroom units, located within three ‘blocks’ with parking provided by means of under-croft / decked element to the rear of site (adopting the same principles as the extant office approval).
